Tutor della CommunityPolish: Reading to a Baby
Have I translated my American English to Polish correctly, does it sound natural, and is the word order correct too?
My sister reads that book to her baby at home every night.
= Moja siostra co wieczór czyta tę książkę swojemu dziecku w domu.

Cześć!
The word order in Polish is not strictly determined, but also is not complately free. If the sentence shoud be neutral, I would say:
Moja siostra co wieczór w domu czyta tę książkę swojemu dziecku.
or even more natural:
Co wieczór w domu moja siostra czyta tę książkę swojemu dziecku.
There is also a way of underlining some parts of the frase by moving them to the end (or to the beginning) and changing the intonation, e.g.:
Co wieczór w domu moja siostra czyta swojemu dziecku TĘ KSIĄŻKĘ (a nie inną).
or
Moja siostra czyta swojemu dziecku tę książkę w domu CO WIECZÓR (a nie co dwa dni).
Pozdrawiam,
Marcin
