What are the difference between "boss" and " supervisor"?

In a company ,there are different departments or sections, the supervisor will be above a general employee in his/her section but will have no authority over other people in other departments.
Boss:- He is at the top of everyone, in every section or departments.

Boss :-
1- An employer or a supervisor.
2- One who makes decisions or exercises authority.
3- A professional politician who controls a party or a political machine.
supervisor :-
1- One who supervises.
2-One who is in charge of a particular department or unit, as in a governmental agency or school system.
3-One who is an elected administrative officer in certain U.S. counties and townships.
