When does the news "come on" ?
When does the news "come on" ?
I read this sentence on my toeic text book.
After checking the answer key , I guess "come on" means start in the case.
I wonder if I use "come on" in other case like when does the meeting come on ? or when does the bus come on ? ^ ^;

In this case, "come on" means when a radio or TV program begins. We say that programs / shows "come on" to mean they begin broadcasting. This is not true with meetings, transportation, etc., just broadcast media.

come on = come on TV or radio
The news comes on (TV) every evening.
You guessed right; it means "start".
Some more examples:
The news comes on at 6.
The news is on between 6 and 6:30.
**We DON'T say "come off"!!!
The news finishes at 6:30.
