1. Differentia on pronunciation:
Taiwan is always one part of China, and the mandarin in Taiwan also based on Beijing dialect. But as it has developed independently for more than 50 years in Taiwan. some difference compared with Chinese mandarin came into being gradually. Just like some phonetics, they interacted with Taiwan local dialect result in vanishment of the” r-ending retroflexion”and “Retroflex”.
2. Differentia on words and expressions:
There is a little difference with Chinese mandarin. Some of them are derived from Taiwan local dialect or loanword(mainly from Japanese and southern Min dialect)
ex.Taiwan:衰(shuāi) (Chinese:倒楣(dǎoméi)) English:unlucky
ex.T:欧(ōu)吉(jí)桑(sāng)(C:男性长辈(nánxìngzhǎngbèi),J:おじさん) E:male eldership
ex. T:瓦(wǎ)斯(sī)(C:煤气(méiqì),J:ガス)E:gas
And some differentia resulted from difference habit of words usage.
ex. T:原(yuán)子(zǐ)笔(bǐ) (C:圆珠笔(yuánzhūbǐ)) E:ball pen
3. Differentia on characters:
In Chinese mainland we use simplified Chinese characters whereas traditional characters are used in Taiwan.
ex. T:買 (C:买(mǎi)) E:buy
ex. T:馬 (C:马(mǎ)) E:horse
To sum up,Chinese Mandarin is always the most standard mandarine.

Sure there are differences. Even within China there are very wide variations in Mandarin. Even more so in another country. But with standard 普通话 you will be understood by most people in China or Taiwan.

It has little difference. Because Taiwan belongs to China, But the only difference between them is that we mainland people use Simplified Chinese while they are using Traditional Chinese. The pronunciation and the spelling are similar.
