I looked “in the meantime” up and knew it meant “until sth expected happens” in some cases. Although I checked that, I’ve been still confused with it. Could you please make several examples in that meaning?
It doesn’t have to be expected. It can also be something that has already happened. Example:
“Our car is broken. It would be nice if we could afford to fix, but that seems unlikely for now, at least. In the meantime we can ride our bicycles.”

I am at home right now waiting for the postman to deliver a parcel, in the meantime I will do some household chores.
Later on this afternoon I plan to go to the post office, in the meantime I will have some breakfast and do some studying.
