Today’s new words totalitarianism & teetotalism can I recite these words by dividing it into several different parts? e.g., totalitarianism = total+itarian+ism; teetotalism=tee+total+ism But what is itarian? does it has something to do with Italian? what about “tee”? i used to recite it as “tea”🤣

Here is the morphological breakdown: Tot- This Latin root is an adjective or noun meaning “all”. -al This Latin suffix makes a noun into an adjective, although the English word “total” is usually a noun (or even a verb). -ity This Latin suffix makes a noun, often an abstract noun. -ary This Latin suffix makes an adjective (although it may also act like a noun). -an This Latin suffix makes an adjective or noun, often referring to a person. -ism This Latin suffix makes a noun, usually abstract. In Chinese, it is often equivalent to 主義. Note that the morphological division generally does *not* correspond to division into syllables for purposes of pronunciation.
