Hi everyone! Please, check my essay 🙏 Globalization is one of the ongoing trends which has captured almost every country. In the current time people from all over the world tend to listen to the same music, watch the same movies, share the same values and even wear the same clothes. One can say that globalization is going to destroy the local cultures. These people see threat in this process and often urge the local authorities to claim the precedence of their own culture over the foreign one. So, is globalization truly dangerous? From my point of view, the obvious factor of globalization is the dominance of the western music and movie industry. People from around the globe often prefer to watch a famous Hollywood blockbuster instead of a local movie. Sometimes the cinemas even postpone releases of the local pictures in favor of the promising western movies with popular actors in order to gain more money. Personally, I do not consider it to be a problem. We have to admit that many Hollywood companies often have much bigger budget than any local movie production businesses. Thus, not only do they attract the most successful actors but also they can make spectacular shows on screen. I believe that it is hard to deceive the audience and they have the right to choose the more appealing pictures no matter if they are local or not. Furthermore, some say that we might lose our own values and start to respect those of somebody else’s more if we cling on global trends and opinions. Indeed, it appears to be true as we can see it from the social networks where foreigners often respond to and discuss the news from the western countries. However, to my mind, only young people are inclined to plunge into foreign cultures this much. Getting older, they usually start to appreciate their roots more. To sum up, globalization is an essential part of the modern world. Nevertheless, I believe that it is not powerful enough to undermine the pillars of the local societies.

Wow! Lots of interesting ideas here. Because my grandmother moved from Sicily to the US, I can relate to the trauma of losing culture, but I also agree that it is inevitable as things modernize. I believe it is up to each of us to consider this carefully and decide what our values are- and which traditions from our native cultures are worth keeping. If this is done, we can modernize and keep our traditions that matter most. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
