Insegnante professionistađ âI know the word, but I just canât use it!â đ
I hear this ALL THE TIMEâespecially from intermediate and upper-intermediate learners.
Itâs frustrating, right? You recognise the word when you read or hear it, but when itâs your turn to speak⊠nothing.
So, what can you do?
Hereâs a tip I always share:
đ Use the word in your writing and speaking. Donât just memorise itâlive with it.
For example, if youâve just learned the word âstiflingâ (meaning hot, uncomfortable, hard to breathe), try journaling about a summer holiday where the weather was stifling.
Or pretend youâre talking to a friend:
âThe heat in Bangkok was absolutely stiflingâI couldnât even breathe!â
Thatâs how you make the word yours.
