Gun laws in the Czech Republic In the Czech Republic, we have five types of gun licences and you are supposed to be aged twenty-one or more with some exeptions. The first type is for handling with historic guns. You must be 21 or older and those guns cannot be capable of shooting. The second type is for sport purporses. In that case you can be fifteen, but you have to proof that you are a member of any sport club. If you are not a member, you are supposed to be at least eighteen. The third type is for hunting purposes. The rules are similar for the previous type, but those who are underaged must have hunting license instead of the club membership. in other cases, the age eighteen is requested. For previous two groups you cannot have the gun prepared to able to shoot immediatelly. The fourth group is "for need in the proffesion". It is for policepeople, army members or other people who use guns in their proffesions. Some of them can/must bear the gun openly and you must be at least eithteen, but to be twenty or twenty-one is preffered. The last group is "for self-defence". You must be twenty-one with no exeptions. With that licence type you can have your gun to be prepared to shoot immediately, but you must bear it hidden. Beside age, you must undergo a health check up at your general practitioner. Also, you must not have a mental illness. If developed later, your licence is automaticlally invalid. Then you need to have a cleen criminal record. Before you get your licence, you must past a test with questions about proper gunhandling and gun laws. Then a practial test follows, where your shooting accuracy and your actual gunhangling is evaluated. Score to pass depends on the license you are applying for.

With this type of license, you can have your gun loaded, but it must be concealed. Beside age, you must undergo a health check evaluation with general practitioner. Also, you can not be diagnosed with a mental illness. If once is diagnosed later, your licence is automatically rescinded. In addition you need to have a clean criminal record. Before you can obtain your licence. You must pass a written "Gun handling" and "Gun law" exam. Afterwards a practical test follows. Where your shooting accuracy and your gun handling techniques are evaluated. The passing score depends on the type of license that you are applying for.
