We should absolutely do every we can do save regional dialects. The diversity of languages is what makes communities unique and vibrant by being able to communicate in their native tongue. How sad it would be if regional dialects began to die out and the next generation was forced to use a globilized language. There are already a lot of languages that are on the verge of extinction as the number of native speakers begin to dwindle down. Along with the language, we will also lose out on the culture that is tied to the language and that would a tragic loss for the langauge community. We see this a lot in families that have immigrated to different countries and their children are raised to speak the language of the new country, so the children eventually forgot or don't even learn the native language of their parents. I think there should be more awareness of the potential threat of languages being lost and more programs available to support and perpetuate the ongoing learning of regional languages.
