Cachapas with Cheese đ§
It is a typical dish from Venezuela. It's not difficult to make, but as with most things, some people make this dish better than others. The primary ingredient is tender corn đœ.
First, using a sharp knife, cut the corn kernels without cutting into the cornhusk.
Next, grind the kernels and collect the corn "milk" that comes out, catching it in a cup.
In a large bowl, knead the mixture while adding sugar and a pinch of salt. Also, add the corn "milk" you collected earlier.
At this point, you should have a very hot griddle or skillet. Grease it with butter and spread the batter as if making pancakes. Wait a little while and then flip the cachapa.
Now, it's time to slather the cachapa with butter and add cheese. And there you have it: a cachapa with cheese.
This dish is commonly enjoyed in August because that's when corn is harvested in Venezuela. Some people like to eat the cachapa with crispy pork rind.
