This is an essay about a movie named “Death Becomes Her”. It was released in 1992. The main characters are played by Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn, and Bruce Willis. This movie begins with an actress, Madeline stealing her friend’s boyfriend and getting married with him. Her friend, Helen had a strong hate and decided to get revenge against Madeline. Madeline and her husband, Ernest have had an unhappy marriage life for seven years. Madeline has had worried about her aging appearance and Ernest has had drunk too much. One day Helen showed up with unchanged beautiful appearance and tried to avenge Madeline by stealing her boyfriend. Madeline got hurt and despaired at her appearance. She visited a person who sold nostrums for aging and got it. The nostrum made her 20’s. At the same time, Helen egged Ernest on to kill Madeline.He finally killed his wife. However she was still alive even though her spine was completely broken. Helen came to their mansion to make sure Madeline was dead. But she was found by Madeline and killed by a gun. However she was also still alive even though her stomach had a big hole. She also took the nostrum. It didn’t make them younger but also made them never to die. This is a story about that people are swayed by appearance. Most people want to keep them young and beautiful. A lot of products are selling like hot cakes because people want to lose their weight and make their skin beautiful. I’m one of such customers. I want to keep myself young. But I know some people have aged well. They don’t look ageless but they look nice. I hope I can be like such people.

This is an essay about a Japanese movie named “Kamome shokudo”. Kamome means seagull and shokudo means diner. I watched this movie many times. I want to watch it especially when I am fed up with everything. The main character is an owner of a diner. She runs it in Helsinki in Finland. Some passengers peek through the window, but they don’t come inside. She has no customers every day. But she believes that if she opens her diner and puts heart into cooking, people will come and enjoy her dishes. One day a boy who loves Japan came into her diner and enjoyed conversation with her. He was the first costumer. With this as a start, her diner got to be popular around people in Helsinki. Some people with different problems came to her and recovered themselves. Some Japanese women came to Finland because they were fed up with Japan. A Finnish woman got desperate because her husband left home. What she did was just giving them a cup of joe and a cinnamon roll and making small talk. She never asks their problems and believes that they can get better by themselves. I strongly remember a Japanese woman said that anyone has a problem and is worried about it regardless of nationality. This line makes me think that I’m not alone and this movie makes me believes that I’m okay.

This is an essay about my exeperience of playing games. I don’t play a game so often. But this essay doesn’t end. When I was a child, I used to play a board game called “scrabble”. Every Saturday I took a private English conversation class with my friends. In the class, we sometimes enjoyed playing it. One day our teacher brought the board game and left it at my home. Since then I’ve kept it for long time, maybe 15 years. She probably forgets leaving it because she’s not obsessed with having things at all. I have a lot of things which I borrowed from her. Actually I also had forgotten having it until 2 years ago. When I found it in my closet, I felt I was like a character in the movie “Jumanji” , where the main characters find an old board game in their attic. At that time I was chatting about the game with my friend from U.S.. In the conversation he told me an app named “Words with friends classic”. It’s a smartphone application of “scrabble”. We were playing it together. Of course he won because he’s a native English speaker. But it was lots of fun. Recently we don’t use the app. But when I hear “game”, I think of “scrabble”. That’s because I have great memories.

This is an essay about an episode of Japanese drama. Tha name is “HIKIKOMORI SENSEI” in Japanese. HIKIKOMORI means recluse and SENSEI means teacher. The main character hadn’t gone outside and seen people because he was scared of people. Even after he overcame it and became to able to see people, he refrained from communicating with people deeply. One day he gave a speech about overcoming his social reclusion. A president of a junior high school listened to his speech and thought he was the best person to help students refusing to go to school. So the president asked him to work as a part time teacher. Of course he rejected the request. However, he met a student to refuse to go to school accidentally and helped her. Finally he decided to be a teacher. 1st episode is like that. Such a thing cannot occur in a real life. But it’s true that person who has suffered from a social life can understand people in the similar situation.

It’s an essay about one film. Yesterday, I watched a film named “my precious list.” It was released in 2016. The main character is a girl who is working as a proofreader of legal documents. She is quite smart, so to speak, like a genius. She entered Harvard university when she was 14. She thinks that any relationship is not important for her. Of course, she has no friends and boyfriend. She just enjoys reading in her bed, judges people, and shows off her IQ 184. She sees a therapist who is a friend of her father. One day, he gave her one list saying what she should do to be happy by the end of the year. She told him that she wasn’t unhappy and didn’t want to do that. But actually she felt unhappy. So she tried to do things on the list doubtfully. Finally she finished all of the thing on the list. I think if something is changed for her, she got to permit herself to be happy and believe she’ll be happy. I don’t know many cases, but unhappy people tend to believe they cannot get happy. If something awful happens to them, they wold say “I know that!” and believe in their wrong belief deeply. Making your own list and doing it is a good way to notice that you can be happy anytime. I should make my list soon.

This is an essay about a famous movie named “four weddings and a funeral”. The movie was released in 1994. It’s old a little bit. I got to like this movie because I love 90’s fashion, British English, and the image quality which is not too good. The main character is played by a famous actor Hugh Grant. He has a problem that he cannot meet and get married with the woman who he really loves. Every week he has to join a wedding ceremony of his friend. But one day he met so pretty woman at the wedding ceremony of his best friend. He fell in love with her and felt she was his destiny. However they had to face some problems in order to stay together. I think the movie wants to say what is important for marriage and for what people get married. The answer depends on person. This movie gives an answer though. I don’t think to get married is necessary for everyone. It’s important that people feel happy in daily life. Love is one element of things which make people happy but it has a great impact.

This is an essay about a short film named “room 88”. It’s about one man’s time traveling. He made a time traveling machine by himself. One day he tried to do time traveling by his machine. He just wanted to get the time back. However some people in the future appeared in front of him. One woman told that she was a biggest fan of him because he was famous as the inventor of the machine in the future. He seemed to get upset. Finally he remembered Einstein’s words that is the time exists so that everything doesn’t happen at one time, and activated the machine again. They disappeared. To watch the film I just think the mechanism of time traveling is complicated. It is quite short, about 10 minutes. But I really enjoyed it.
