Hey there! I'm Javier, a professional teacher from Colombia with a passion for teaching Spanish. I've been helping young and adult learners of all levels since 2010, both in-person and online, in countries like the United Kingdom and Japan.
My mission is to help you communicate effectively and with confidence, whether you're starting from scratch or striving for a C2 level. As a teacher, I believe in creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to know my students and helping them communicate their ideas clearly and effectively.
During our lessons, I want you to have as much speaking practice as possible. That's why we'll have guided conversations that focus on your specific needs and interests. And if there's specific vocabulary or grammar that you need help with, we'll work on that together too.

As an English speaker, you may face some common challenges when learning Spanish, such as gender and agreement, knowing when to use "ser" vs. "estar," mastering the subjunctive, and building your vocabulary.
Don't worry if you find these challenging at first - I'm here to help you overcome them with guided conversations and specific vocabulary and grammar exercises.
My goal is to help you express yourself naturally and confidently in real-life situations, so you can start using your new language skills right away.

Javier is by far the best Spanish Tutor I've had, and I've tried tutors from other platforms before iTalki. He is personable, patient, and his teaching style is ideal for online learners. I dont think other students, or other tutors for that matter, give thought to that. Javier uses a PDF to capture areas you need to review/study so that you can improve. July mark's the 2nd year that I've been taking lessons with Javier and I have definitely progressed with my Spanish. I can now confidently add "Spanish speaker" on my resume thanks to Javier.

Great class with Javier ! We had a fun dialogue and then he had an excercise prepared for me which helped me with vocabulary I've been struggling with.

Another fantastic class with Javier ! He had excercises prepared for the vocab theme I needed help with. He also captures my errors and important phrases on a PDF which is so helpful when I need to go back and review.
