Finding teachers that challenge you in the right ways- making you process new information & asking questions that allow thinking on a deeper level- are extremely valuable. Alicia is one of those with a knack for teaching. Perceptive at meeting you where you stand in learning Spanish, her lessons feel neatly tailored: rather than focusing on level appropriate subjects that interest me that I may be familiar with, she chooses topics that are generally fascinating and feel "up my alley," pushing me beyond my own bubble into intriguing topics I wouldn't have encountered without her. After class she passes on the notes of words that were new or tripped me up for my own reference. There are always verbal and written components. Although it never feels overly formal, it is an exceptionally well-organized and well-curated class with excellent content and feedback.

One year!!! This week marks one year since I started taking classes with Alicia. She is the reason I have been able to reach an advanced level of speaking, and I am so proud of how far I've come. Alicia is a great conversationalist. Right from the start I could tell that she was personable and funny, and it has been that way ever since. Sometimes I need to take my time to gather my thoughts, but Alicia is so patient and I never feel rushed. I also love that she writes down each of my errors with corrections on the virtual whiteboard in class and sends them to me after so I can review them on my own. My favorite thing about Alicia's style is that after a little while she started to identify my weak areas and crafted lessons specifically tailored to improving those skills, which has helped me sound more natural and fluid. Alicia, thank you for all of your support and encouragement during my Spanish language journey. I'm looking forward to another great year. :)

I highly recommend Alicia as a Spanish teacher. She is super organized and her teaching style is exceptional. Alicia ensures that learning the language is a fun and interactive experience. Her lessons are always engaging, creating a lively atmosphere that makes the learning process enjoyable. Alicia's pedagogical skills are awsome. She teaches just the vocabulary you need to expand your level and explains in a simple and comprehensible manner. Also she creates a supportive environment that boosts confidence in language learning.

I have been taking lessons with Alicia for about a year now. I am studying Spanish for fun/my own fulfillment/to open my mind via connecting to cultures other than my own, rather than the other common reasons of having family who speak it or for professional reasons. So I was drawn to her approach of learning via conversations about relevant current issues, and a year later am impressed that she has never failed to facilitate a lesson with interesting themes that felt natural to talk about even when I was just starting and had much less vocabulary and ability to speak. She is also never impatient when my lesson comes during a long week where my brain is molasses and it feels like I've forgotten half of everything I've learned. I'm sure this approach is great for people with other goals as well, because being challenged to develop my thoughts on a new subject in Spanish stresses parts of my brain exercises do not, and shows me which things I don't understand as well as I thought

Great use of our time. Had a plan in place ready to go which included video media. Highly recommend Alicia.
