Jambo! My name is Delilah. I love traveling, making new friends all over the world, and of course teaching the beautiful language of Swahili! I'm a native Swahili speaker from Mombasa, Kenya, and I understand and speak English fluently. I am now traveling the world with my little family. We are currently enjoying the lovely beaches of Zanzibar. I love adventure, reading, writing, music, dancing and learning new languages. I am an intermediate speaker in both Taita and Kikuyu (Kenyan tribal languages). I am currently learning Spanish, so I understand how hard it is to learn a new language, but it can be easy and fun if we go "pole pole." Hakuna matata!Che tipo di insegnante sono
Speaking a new language can feel scary and uncomfortable. I find it's best to learn with someone who is warm, patient, playful and attentive to your needs. That's how I aim to be with my students!
As a young girl, I used to teach my friends and younger kids in my neighborhood different subjects. That is when I developed my passion for teaching. I enjoyed watching them learn and grow and develop confidence and pride in themselves.
Some Swahili teachers make things very formal, structured and heady (But that can be stressful--and boring!). I find that my students learn best in a relaxed, comfortable and connective conversations--the same way as we learned to speak as kids. Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
When you and I sit down for a class, we'll get to know each other, and I'll help you feel at home in the world of Swahili. I will speak both English and Swahili with you, and encourage you to ask questions. Once I discover your current level of Swahili, and your challenges, I will meet you where you are. We'll discuss things you want to express in Swahili and have fun conversations. Our lessons will be practical and personalized, and I'll give you homework only if you want it! I will keep a record of how you are improving, and celebrate your growth. Maybe one day I'll see you in Kenya, and we'll share a Chai, and have a conversation 100% in Swahili!5.0
