Hello! I’m Jerónimo, a polyglot tutor from Argentina. I specialize in the Icelandic language across its entire timeline—from the Old Norse of the Sagas and Eddas to the Modern Icelandic spoken in Reykjavík today.
My journey began at the 2017 Polyglot Conference in Reykjavík, where I decided to make Icelandic my specialty. Since then, I have dedicated myself to teaching it through a comparative and diachronic perspective. I tailor the learning curve to your background: we might leverage a Slavic speaker's intuition for cases, or use etymology to help English speakers master declensions. I offer a flexible curriculum that slides between Literary Old Norse and Modern Communicative Icelandic, depending on your academic or personal goals.
We might analyze a modern sentence and trace its syntax back to the classical era, or dive directly into the Sagas to analyze morphology and style. My method is structured but adaptive: if your goal is travel, we prioritize high-frequency modern usage; if you are a literature enthusiast or academic, we focus on deep text analysis and reading comprehension. Jero is a great teacher. He is very kind and patient. He also teaches Icelandic as a foreigner who learned the language himself as an adult. Because of this, he may be a better fit for a someone who knows nothing of the language. The best thing about Jero is that he knows all types of self-study resources can show you what type of material may be best for your skill set. Thank you Jero.
