Hello! My name is Matt (Matthew) and I have been teaching English professionally for 3 years. I specialise in teaching English to Slavic and Turkic speakers, and I also have extensive experience in preparing students for IELTS. I design my own curriculum based on what students require, but I am also open to working through textbooks or exercise books with you, if that is your preferred teaching style.
About me: I speak English, Russian and Hungarian,and I am learning Kazakh and Romanian. I studied Lingusitics and Russian at university, so I know English grammar, etymology, and phonology very well. I also play the violin and practice gymnastics in my free time.Che tipo di insegnante sono
I have 3 years of teaching experience both in-person and offline. I am CELTA certified at Pass B (upper 15% of tutors) and I favour a student-centered approach, which encourages students to produce (speak or write) as much as possible.
During my degree, I specialised in phonology, and I have a deep understanding of the phonological patterns of the English language, as well as extensive knowledge of other languages' phonological systems and how they impact the way you speak in English.
I also have lots of experience teaching IELTS to students from various backgrounds, as I understand that vocabulary expansion and fluency are the most important elements to success in these exams.Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
My lesson style varies depending on what style of lesson we are having.
For example, in a speaking practice lesson, I would ask you questions and you would speak for half an hour, and then I will go over corrections using my virtual whiteboard, providing detailed feedback.
If we are doing a grammar lesson, I will make you use the construction(s) enough such that you have well-memorised them by the end of the lesson.
For reading, you will read from a sample of text, and we can go through words or constructions that you are not familiar with and find helpful ways for you to understand, memorise and actively use them. I believe that exercises followed by free practice is the best method.Il mio materiale didattico
