I'm from Los Angeles, CA and I have 4 years of experience teaching English. I have worked with English learners from over 15 countries! I'm also a certified American Accent and Pronunciation Specialist!
I love learning about culture and history from all over the world, and I got my Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Middle Eastern Studies! I am passionate about learning languages myself, especially with the comprehensible input method. I speak English, Spanish, and Arabic!

I am a curious and conversational person! I’ll ask you a lot about yourself, and your interests and opinions. My favorite moments are when I can make my students laugh!
I use the General American Accent in my sessions and I speak very clearly for English learners. I can adjust based on my student's needs. I can detect common grammar and pronunciation issues, which are unique to speakers of different languages.

US Accent Training:
Many students struggle with the sounds of English. While there is nothing wrong with speaking with an accent, some students may want to improve their clarity and communication for work, school, or moving/ assimilating to the US. I am a certified specialist and have a ~12 session program for accent training.
Conversation practice:
Many students have different goals in their target language, so I like to collaborate with students on conversation topics. Most importantly, I know that students fear speaking the most out of all of the language skills due to low confidence and a fear of making mistakes. Aliyah is absolutely wonderful. Conversing with her is really helpful for improving your listening skills, fluency, and speaking confidence. Moreover, she is careful to choose topics that interest her students, making the conversations both interesting and fun. I highly recommend her!

Aliyah is a great teacher, she is calm and patient and she keeps track of my progress. She selects the topic of our conversations based on my interests and helps me work on my weaknesses in English and improve them. On top of that, she is a wonderful and intelligent person, which makes our conversations both fruitful and joyful
