Hi, I'm Nathan, a native Korean speaker from Daegu, now living in the U.S. I’ve taught Korean at a community school for two years, and also helped friends and neighbors of all levels learn the language. My lessons focus on real-life conversation, clear pronunciation, and natural expressions. I adjust to your pace and goals, whether you want structured grammar help or casual speaking practice. I am also a native speaker of English, and fluent in French, so I can explain concepts in either language if needed. As a language learner myself, I aim to make lessons comfortable, fun, and effective. Let’s improve your Korean together.

Nathan is a wonderful Korean teacher! I really enjoy our classes and always learn so much. Last year I was struggling with major lack of motivation, and signing up for classes with Nathan has been a huge help to pull me out of that and get me back on track. Despite me being an older learner, we never run out of topics to discuss and that aspect presents no issues. Highly recommend!

Class with Nathan was such a delight 🥳 He has a kind personality that made me feel comfortable throughout class, even while I was making mistakes. During our intro conversation, Nathan showed me new words and more natural expressions to convey ideas. I like that he is also comfortable giving his own thoughts and options, which really helps it feel like a conversation. For the second half of class, we checked out some things that I had sent beforehand: some of my writing, and some media screenshots. For my writing, he introduced expressions that I can use to convey character feelings instead of just saying the adjectives. For the screenshots, he explained all the expressions and slang that I didn’t know, even giving examples! He answered all of my questions and helped make a plan for our next class. I already feel like I’ve learned so much from him and I’m so excited for the next class!

wow…I’m absolutely blown away. first lesson with nathan. when I contacted nathan, I made it clear that I was a heritage speaker with gaps in my knowledge. I had realized how disconnected I’d felt from my own culture & nathan was kind enough to listen with empathy and compassion. during tonight’s lesson, he really took the time to be super patient & hold space for everything. we talked in depth & he listened to me express myself with the korean I know. nathan actually took vocabulary notes in real time when I didn’t know a word or phrase on google docs which is a total game changer. I didn’t have to worry about taking copious notes, just enjoy my journey. he also patiently & so brilliantly explained some vocabulary and conceptual ideas that were distinct in korean that had bothered me my whole life, as I was filtering through english, but I had three huge light bulb moments that finally made sense. he broke down concepts that made my brain happy. BOOK NATHAN NOW. I swear he is the best.

Having a conversation with 상준 (Nathan) 선생님 is like having a conversation with a friend. He is very patient and engaging. Sometimes, transitioning from subject to subject when learning a new language is a bit tricky and klunky, but I only felt encouragement to continue speaking. The fact that he is fluent in English makes it easy to fall back to English, but he continued speaking with me in Korean even when my brain couldn't take it anymore, and he only switched to English when something needed to be clarified. I appreciate that. I will continue my lessons with him.
