Hello! I'm Yuka. Born in Osaka but having lived across Japan, I now live in Nagano, surrounded by the Alps.
I’m a professional writer (6+ years) and was a Pilates trainer (10 years). My background helps me teach natural Japanese in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
I'm really passionate about language! I've lived in the U.S. for 3 years and now I'm learning German myself, so I know how challenging it is to learn a new language especially as an adult.
The things I love:
･Hiking & Travel: I’ve hiked across Japan and explored Germany, Portugal, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Czech, USA, Canada, Australia, Indonesia and more.
･Reading & Writing: Essays and novels.

I'm not just a teacher, I'm also a fellow learner who shares knowledge and experiences with you. As a writer, I'm still learning Japanese just like you!
My goal is to create a safe space where you can speak confidently! My students say I'm very patient, kind and fun :) And I always give positive feedback, so don't be afraid of making mistakes!
I've also taught Pilates to many international clients in English in Tokyo, so I can support you in English.

We focus on speaking and real conversation. We'll talk about whatever topics you enjoy or want to practice. And I explain grammar through conversation, so you can enjoy learning and start communicating with Japanese people with confidence!

Der Unterricht mit Yuka-San ist ein Freude. Sie spricht auch Deutsch, so kann ich auch besonders gut das Gefühl für manche Vokabeln finden ohne den Umweg über Englisch.
I love my lessons with Yuka! We always have fun and get interesting conversations going even with my limited knowledge of Japanese. I feel at ease even though I make many mistakes. She is very helpful and hardworking and also provides me with suggestions on how to continue learning outside of class.

Yuka sensei was very calm and patient with me. I felt comfortable asking questions and speaking freely. She was able to gently give me corrections and I feel I was able to get good speaking and listening practice. Will definitely repeat.

I wasn't able to study for the lesson because I was sick, but Yuka Sensei adapted to the situation and we did a review of what we already did in the past so I could still make the best out of the class. Very appreciated!

Had another great lesson with Yuka-san. ✨ She guided our convo and was very helpful by teaching me new words. Her lessons are very relaxed so I can make mistakes without feeling pressure.
