I’m Lydie, and I live in Setúbal, a beautiful coastal city in Portugal. My passion lies in the art of language acquisition - learning and teaching. Portuguese is my native language, but I also speak English, Romanian, and some French. I began my language teaching journey in 2016 and have the privilege of teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where I earned a postgraduate degree in Teaching Portuguese as a Non-native Language. I hold TEFL and TEYL certificates, and I've honed my skills in teaching grammar and conversation to learners from age 4 to adults. I adopt a laid-back teaching style, favoring the communicative approach, as I believe that language is best learned through interaction and contextual vocabulary usage. My lessons encompass grammar, conversation, and pronunciation improvement, all tailored to your unique requirements and objectives.

Lydie is an amazing teacher. I recommend her to anyone who wants to learn European Portuguese. She is resourceful, kind, and professional. She is also personable and has a good sense of humor. I am grateful I was able to study with her as I prepare for my first visit to Portugal.

Lydie is the best foreign language speaker I have ever had. Over the years I have struggled to learn a second language. I grew up in the U.S. when learning a second language was rare and so I had limited classes in school. Lydie has given me the confidence and thus the motivation to learn Portuguese. I know I can do it thanks to her.

Lessons with Lydie is the best thing I've done for myself in a very long time. Her help is making me feel much more confident about trying to speak Portuguese during my upcoming trip to Portugal. I truly can't say enough wonderful things about what a great teacher she is.
