Hi, I'm Michela, an Italian Language teacher with DITALS certification. I'm a native speaker living near Florence. In 2008, after a degree in Modern Literature, I earned a PhD in Cultural Anthropology in Paris and Siena followed by research and teaching in Italian universities on the role of food in culture. Since 2009, I've been giving Italian Language and Culture courses to adults, including managers, asylum seekers and university students. I offer courses for any level and Language Certification - like CILS, CELI and the new B1 level test for obtaining the italian citizenship - or interest whether tourism, work, study or simply a passion for the language.Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
All courses will be tailored to your specific needs. I use to share a googledoc to take notes during the classes and a google-drive folder to collect all the course materials. For Certifications specific classes and materials will be provided. Classes can emphasize conversation, vocabulary, written Italian for academic and professional use. Michela is an amazing teacher. I have been taking lessons with her twice a week for one year now. Each lesson starts with conversation and then we review homework. She is kind, she explains things well, and I truly just look forward to my lessons with her. I highly recommend Michela to anyone looking for an Italian instructor.

Another great lesson! We practiced using the subjunctive in conversation and went over the homework. She has great resources. Challenging! We also discussed the novel I’m now reading. I’m so happy Michela recommended this novel. Learning vocab in situ is fantastic and the imagery in this novel is terrific. Michela is brilliant and discussing the book with her is really enjoyable!!

Tonight we started the next chapter in the C1 workbook which looks at the history of Italy….. mainly during and after the Second World War. I find this an interesting topic and my lessons with Michela have introduced me to a lot of topics like this. For me it is a perfect way to learn Italian! Tonight’s lesson resulted in a discussion about Fascism and why Mussolini succeeded in Italy whilst the Fascist party in the UK failed. It is a long way from asking for directions and how to order food that we covered back when I was at A1 level. There are still a lot of improvements to make, but the lessons with Michela have resulted in the Italian language and culture being part of my life now!
