I am Michela, a DITALS-certified Italian language professor and native speaker based near Florence. With an academic background in Modern Literature and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from universities in Paris and Siena, I have since dedicated myself to research and teaching. Beginning in 2024, I serve as a Lecturer of Italian as a Foreign Language at the University of Palermo. I invite you to contact me or schedule a trial lesson. I look forward to meet you!

Since 2009, I've been giving Italian Language and Culture courses to adults, including managers, asylum seekers and university students. From 2024, I'm also a Lecturer of Italian as a Foreign Language at the University of Palermo, teaching to international students and scholars. I offer courses for any level and Language Certification - like CILS, CELI and the new B1 level test for obtaining the italian citizenship - or interest whether tourism, work, study or simply a passion for the language. All courses will be tailored to your specific needs. I use to share a googledoc to take notes during the classes and a google-drive folder to collect all the course materials. For Certifications specific classes and materials will be provided. Classes can emphasize conversation, vocabulary, written Italian for academic and professional use. I have now had 6 lessons with Michela. She is SUCH a patient teacher! She is really helping me learn, and answers all of my questions. I still feel slow and clumsy, but she is so encouraging. I feel like I am back in school, but in the best way. I highly recommend her for someone who REALLY wants to study Italian, and not just casually play around with it. Lei è una vera professoressa! 😊

She is truly the italian queen of italki. Her full agenda and loyal students say everything about her teaching. It is hard to get a spot in her calendar, but when having class with her time goes by so fast. If you can plan your agenda ahead of time, I recommend her for all levels. Also, she can speak English and French fluently so she can teach in both languages.

Michela has a sixth sense about language. When I struggle to express a nuanced thought she is able to both cognitively and emotionally ascertain precisely what it is I'm trying to say. This is a rarity.
Her humor and her empathy are a winning combination which augments her obvious intellect. Finally, she has an ocean of patience for me, far more than any instructor with whom I've previously worked.
Her ability as an instructor is unrivaled, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

È stato molto interessante parlare di cibo, incluse le frattaglie! Non sapevo che si mangiasse la milza, tanto meno in Sicilia! Invece ho descritto una volta quando ho mangiato haggis in Scozia.
