I’m a TEFL-certified English language instructor, having completed my certification at the University of Toronto in 2018. As a certified CELPIP instructor, for ten years I've coached students in CELPIP and IELTS success for immigration to Canada. I’ve also worked as a professional proofreader and am an experienced writing coach. My first love is literature, and I’m especially interested in contemporary Canadian and American poetry, and avant-garde and experimental writing. My expertise is in supporting new immigrants to Canada in developing their English communication skills. My lessons include coaching on proposals and email communications, presentations and job interviews.

I like to keep my teaching method practical. Everything is based on the idea that teaching is a relationship, based on mutual respect.
Your trial lesson, or first lesson, will be a conversation about your current goals and abilities.
For students who are in customized assignments or writing classes, and for those preparing for exams, I will propose a time frame in which we can achieve your goals. While we may discuss this time frame in the first lesson, a more concrete plan will be proposed and agreed upon in the next lesson.
For conversation students, we’ll introduce ourselves and propose potential topics of conversation.

Jessica is a great teacher! She’s really helped me understand the CELPIP better.
She’s very attentive to details and always gives helpful tips on pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure.
Since she also speaks French, she can point it out when I slip into French sentence patterns.
I truly recommend learning with Jessica!

I just had my first class with Teacher Jessica, and it was a great experience! She was very friendly, patient, and easy to talk to. I felt comfortable right away, which made it easier for me to practice speaking. Jessica tailored the class to my level and goals, which I really appreciated.
