Ayman Fawy

Ayman taught me how to say the measurements for things and I could see myself using those all the time, as they are very common. We also spoke about cultural nuances of Egypt and it is very helpful to talk about these things so I can learn more about the language and culture.

I learned a lot of medical terms this week and we talked about health. It was a very useful lesson. I feel a lot more confident speaking every time.

Ayman encourages me by sticking to Arabic when speaking to me even when I don't understand some of the phrases and terms he uses. He always corrects me nicely as well. We spoke about vacations today and this was very useful as the summer is coming up and it will be nice to converse about summer plans.

Today we spoke in Arabic about restaurants and the unhealthy nature of eating foods out versus just cooking at home and buying ingredients from a grocery store. Ayman helped me to add many new words to my vocabulary that I didn't know previously and I'm looking forward to reviewing them so I can use them fluently in conversation going forward.

Ayman works to make sure I understand what he is saying and will frequently talk about the Egyptian way of life. I compare it to the US and he helps me make those connections so I can understand the culture as well as the language better and how it is all interconnected. He is a great conversationalist and will keep the conversation going even when I am having a hard time coming up with things to say or the right words to say them in Egyptian Arabic.

We spoke about the weather most of the time. This was very helpful as I do not know most of the words associated with the weather so I learned a lot and took lots of notes. I'm looking forward to our next lesson.
