Mao sensei is a very precise , thorough and attentive teacher. She is able to dive deep into the grammar and correct mistakes at a very high level. Her Japanese is extremely refined and very nice to hear. I highly recommend Mao sensei to practice your Japanese and improve it.

There's no better teacher for accent than Mao sensei. She's firm and won't accept anything but what's truly good, so if the praise comes you know she means it. She is also patient and will go over things as many times is required to make sure you got it right (a fluke won't just cut it, you have to be able to repeat success with accent). There are so many things to keep in mind while reading (or talking), and it had been a long time since I practiced for this class. We drilled the mouth shapes so my vowels would sound right, and went over my own words to check the pitch accent. She's professional, knowledgeable, and it's been a pleasure to been her student for such a long time. I cannot recommend her enough if you are looking to improve. ありがとうございました。

Mao-sensei is a fantastic teacher with very high standards for pronunciation, and she points out what most other teachers leave unsaid. After roughly a month of lessons with her, I have already learned many things that I never learned elsewhere in my many years of studying Japanese. I highly recommend her for anyone who wants a strict guide to Japanese pronunciation/intonation!
