Professional, certified private or small group lesson ESL teacher- all ages- full-time since 2011 she/her ***BIG DISCOUNTS all summer!*** I began teaching English to immigrants in 2003. After graduating from university and traveling for a bit, I became a certified English language teacher. I started my professional career in Turkey in 2011, and I’ve been teaching full-time ever since. I lived in Turkey for 10 years, and now I split my time between Turkey and the U.S.. When I'm not teaching, I'm spending time outside, spending time with friends and family, cooking, climbing, and reading. People would describe me as genuine, kind, inquisitive, and offbeat. I'm a teacher who spends time on my students outside of lessons. I send notes to my students after every lesson, I help students who need something small edited or proofread, and I spend time learning about the student's native language and finding quick solutions to the problems that they may face. In my lessons, I meet the student in the middle. After I assess them, I learn what they're looking for and what they need. I not only teach but I am also a coach, a guide, and a tutor. Lessons depend entirely on the student's needs. Typically, I include variety in my lessons. For example, if the student needs grammar lessons, I will teach through speaking, writing, giving lots of examples, repeating a lot, and most importantly giving the student a safe place to practice what they learned and ask all the questions they want. **If you don't see a lesson time on my teacher calendar, please ask! Joy explains confusing subjects in a very simple and clear way. When she detects your confusion, she customizes the lessons and also gives homework accordingly. We did our fourth lesson and I can say that her methods are really useful. I feel lucky that I found her. I appreciate her help.
