I’m from Bogotá, Colombia, and at 34 years old, I’m a Commercial Pilot and a Journalist with a true passion for teaching and sharing my love for languages, traveling, and culture. My language journey started at 7 with French, followed by English at 8, Italian at 13, and now I’m learning Portuguese. Having been through the ups and downs of learning a language, I understand what it’s like to go from zero to bilingual. I teach Spanish and English, and if your native language is English, French or Italian, I can use those as a base to help you learn.
My approach is all about adapting to your needs and focusing on speaking the language naturally, while tackling complex tenses from a practical perspective. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I help you gain confidence not just through conversation, but also through understanding grammar.

I’ve noticed that at the beginning, many students feel a bit shy about speaking, but over time, they gain more confidence. I always encourage them to speak freely and make mistakes because that’s when the real learning happens! I’m here to help you achieve your goals—whether it’s traveling, connecting with friends, advancing your career, or simply becoming more fluent for personal growth. I have taken 20 general Spanish classes with Juan David at this point. He is truly an amazing teacher, and if you decide to learn Spanish from him, trust that you are in safe hands. In only 2 months, I already feel tremendously more comfortable with Spanish and find myself being able to read the many Spanish ads in New York and hold basic conversations with people of different Spanish-speaking backgrounds.
He is incredibly patient and gives very good and apt advice on improving. He listens and remembers topics of interest related to me, and then integrates them into our conversations. He also employs online internet resources in our learning quite well. As a result, I look forward to every lesson and leave feeling motivated to review the material during my own time.
In summary, I highly recommend him as a tutor!
