I grew up in the United States, but am currently living in Zürich, Switzerland. I have a bachelor's degree in linguistics and Spanish, though I've since fallen in love with German & Italian. I started out my professional career as a corporate educator for an company that makes electronic medical records. Since then, I've been a Spanish tutor for school students, a bilingual storytime leader for young children, and an ESL teacher for adults, an EFL teacher at a primary school, and I'm currently working as an English teacher at a secondary school.Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
I believe that language education should be enjoyable, relevant, and effective. I like to use authentic materials such as news articles, short texts, podcasts, videos, etc.
I think it's very helpful when mistakes are gently corrected. This way, the same mistake isn't made over and over again without knowing that it's incorrect. That's what makes having a teacher worth your time and money.
I create a virtually shared document for all of my students so that they can have a record of our lessons with all of the corrections and new vocabulary. This document doubles as a useful tool for making flashcards.5.0

Marissa is a very attentive, supporting and patient teacher. Although she is not a certified English teacher, I have learnt a lot during our conversation lessons and I am getting more and more confident in speaking English. I am always looking forward to our next lessons. 😊

As always, had a really exciting lesson with Marissa! The way we start a discussion about one topic, and later it very smoothly evolves into something else - amazes me. So much more than just a usual English lesson
