Brazilian with a US degree (MIS), lived in the US for 10 years. I teach Portuguese, and I also speak Spanish, with the warm patience of a Latin dance instructor (samba, forró, salsa) and over a decade of teaching experience. I've been in your shoes, so I tailor every lesson to you: real conversation for daily life, or structured reading/writing. I also offer book materials for those who want to understand Portuguese in depth. All levels/ages. No rigid courses, just student-directed, pressure-free learning. I love discussing anything, from abstract ideas to concrete topics, making language feel alive. Book a trial!
I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher. I believe that anyone can learn a new language if they are willing to dedicate some effort outside of class time.
I teach students at all levels and age. I have found that student-directed teaching is the most effective approach, and I tailor one-to-one instruction based on the student’s needs and interests. For the student who wants to be able to speak everyday Portuguese, I teach conversation, encouraging use of everyday speech, ‘real life’ contexts and pronunciation, over grammatical ‘correctness.’ We study texts and audios about Brazilian daily life and topics that are of interest to the student, and practice conversing. For students who need to develop their reading and writing skills in Portuguese, I work with them on texts emphasizing grammar, structure and more formal vocabulary.Il mio materiale didattico

Lesson was great, I can see my speaking is improving. Leo really makes a great effort to understand me, even if I use the wrong word more often than not he can piece it together and show me what I need to do differently. He is always happy to answer my questions about Brazilian culture as well. I am learning a lot with him!

Leo is upbeat and friendly! It was super fun to learn from him, and he gave me some really helpful tips about grammar/vocabulary. I couldn't imagine a better teacher than him - and I should know because I'm also a language teacher.

I can't recommend Leo highly enough. He's a very down-to-earth, kind person and an excellent teacher. He makes me feel totally comfortable expressing myself without being self-conscious about my mistakes.
