Lucía

I can't recommend Lucía enough. In my trial lesson, she ensured that she understood exactly what I wanted to achieve and by when, and she gave me a realistic schedule of lessons I would need to achieve that. My lessons fluctuate between pure grammar lessons and pure conversation lessons. Lucía makes me work hard in grammar lessons, covering all the topics that I find difficult and explaining them in a way that is easy to understand. She is also very patient with me, guiding me where needed but also giving me space to figure things out myself. My conversation lessons are my favourite! We spend the entire lesson speaking in Spanish about whatever topic comes up. Lucía helps me with unknown vocab and grammar in these lessons and uses them to guide our grammar lessons as well. The vocab I have acquired is so much more useful than set lists or topics as our conversations flow naturally, so the vocab is more applicable for me. No need to look further for a teacher as Lucía is amazing!

I have taken Lucia's classes for over a year and she is always very professional. She encourages me to speak during the conversation part of the class by asking me open ended questions. She has taken the time to learn what vocabulary is relevant to my life and job. She is patient and supportive when I am struggling to think of the words. Lucia is very knowledgeable about grammar. She explains things clearly in English or in Spanish depending on how comfortable I am with the grammar terms. She put in a lot of thought and effort to make my learning journey successful. I will continue to take classes from her

Lucía is an amazing teacher! I came to her Spanish lessons as an absolute beginner and I really appreciate her structured approach to grammar. All of the nuances of the language are explained in lots of detail and Lucía always provides extra support with follow-up tasks/homework for me to practice. I have studied many languages in the past but studying with Lucía has been a truly exceptional experience and I am super happy with the speed of my progress in Spanish.

I feel so lucky to have found Lucia as my spanish teacher. I was worried about find a teacher with so many on italki but after just one lesson I learned more than I did in 4 years of high school spanish! My goal was to have my kids (8/9) become more familiar and to just learn spanish. I could not be more lucky after a couple of lessons with how my kids have progressed and become so comfortable with Lucia. She makes education fun because they play Spanish games but also explains so gently with the kids. They are still kids trying to learn a new language but she makes class so smooth that even with their frustrations they still learn. We got back from Barcelona (the whole reason we are learning) and was able to communicate during the trip with the taxi drivers!! The kids could understand what we were trying to do while on vacation. I am so confident with Lucia that I bought another 20 class package with her so I can make sure we continue our language learning for a long time!!!

I have been studying spanish with Lucía for 5 months now. I have really enjoyed my journey so far and look forward to my lessons every time. She has been a tremendous help in my understanding of the grammar and the proper way to use it. If you are just looking for some quick lessons to have some conversations for travel, then Lucía is not the teacher for you. But if you are serious about learning, speaking properly and fluently eventually, Lucía is definitely the teacher. She is patient and takes the time to explain the spanish language. Her lessons are methodical. She expects you to do your homework after each lesson so be ready to put in the time. She will take the time to review your homework with you and to correct mistakes so you can improve. This is one of my favourite parts of learning with Lucía. My learning is at the point where we are speaking more and I'm being tested to reinforce my learning. It is a great way to learn and keeps me on my toes!
