I'm an experienced, professional English teacher with a CELTA qualification from the Manchester Academy of English and a degree in English from Newcastle University. I also have a 1st class Masters in Anthropology from University College London. I've taught on italki for several years and I love the job. I also teach classes in an English school, NCG Manchester, and have taught at a number of other English schools over the years, including experience teaching in Spain. I live in a small village near Manchester. I have two children of Primary School age. I enjoy walking (and running) in the countryside, writing stories, history, music, comedy, cooking and football.Che tipo di insegnante sono
I aim to help my clients practise and improve their English with lessons that are varied, fun and interesting. I will find out what you want so that together we can choose lessons that suit you. In this way you can focus your learning on the areas you most want to work on and pick topics and activities that you are likely to enjoy. I want to give my clients the opportunity to speak as much as possible in my lessons and I work very hard to find great materials (like videos, podcasts, texts etc) to make my classes more enjoyable. Fluency - Topics for focussed conversation (books, family etc). Activities for spontaneous conversation (Top 5s, Personality Test etc). Word games (20 Questions, Articulate). Your choice.
Grammar and Vocab - Prep with a worksheet. Learn the material with a slideshow. Practise with role play/speaking activity. Revise with Kahoot.
Reading - Options include reading a book together, recommended texts, correcting other clients' work and Speed Reading.
Listening - Options include selected videos, recommended podcasts/movies or presentations on British culture.

I've been studying with Philip for over two years now. And I can say with confidence he is a professional teacher. He is great at explaining grammar and all aspects of the English language. It helps me a lot. Philip's lessons are always interesting and fun. He is very positive, smart and talkative guy. We are talking about different things. It also helps me a lot to learn the language and to overcome the language barrier when talking to other people. I recommend classes with Philip to everyone.

Philip is the best teacher I could ever ask for🙌🏻
I have been learning English from Philip for two and a half years. If I hadn’t learned English from Philip, I wouldn’t have been able to start my job (Teaching Mandarin to the English speakers) in Taiwan.
Philip is a professional teacher who creates professional and creative teaching materials, I had never thought about I could learn English via fun materials, paintings, literature, history, poems, etc. What a creative way to learn English.
If I may leave a review, the only review I can think about is that
Philip is the best teacher I could ever ask for 🙌🏻

Every English lesson with Phil is the highlight of my day. His lessons are inventive; he is a very creative person and creates his lessons by himself permanently. Phil has a good sense of humor that’s why I laugh a lot; he is a very good listener and interlocutor, that’s why I enjoy our conversation every time. Phil corrects my speech very gently and tirelessly so I experience competence in learning English. I really recommend Phil, as a non-conventional and very effective English teacher.

Great lesson about happiness. We talked about expert views on this topic. We wondered how to achieve happiness and how to maintain it in the long term. During the lesson, we discussed the factors that influence people's ability to reach it.
