English Fluency Through Psychology-Based Activation
Since 1984, I’ve helped students turn passive knowledge into fluent speech through a clear, structured English course—not random conversation. My method uses activation principles from educational psychology to help you retrieve words faster, speak more naturally, and build real fluency through guided practice.
My course is divided into eight levels and uses eight books, with lessons based on Oxford and Cambridge textbooks. We work on reading, listening, speaking, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. Speaking is central because the goal is not just to understand English, but to activate it in real communication.
I hold Cambridge C2 Proficiency (Grade A), the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (top grades in three modules), and seven postgraduate diplomas, including English Language Teaching Methodology, Educational Psychology, Neuropsychopedagogy, and Neuroscience. I’m also doing a bachelor’s degree in Speech Therapy, which gives me deeper insight into language acquisition, pronunciation, and how the brain processes language.
My method combines books, structure, speaking practice, and educational psychology. I help you activate what you know, build confidence, and speak more naturally.

Proficiency Translation Certificate CEFR 2 - Cambridge University UK - 1989This was an optional, additional part of the Cambridge Proficiency exam; it awarded an additional certificate in Translation from and into English (Portuguese<>English). It involved translating C2 level texts in English and Portuguese without recourse to dictionaries. Different language pairs were offered each year. Due to an utter lack of candidates for this additional part of the Proficiency exam, the translation exam was discontinued shortly after the turn of the millennium.

A Big Milestone in My English Journey – 425 Hours with Marco
Today marks a very special milestone in my English journey.
Over the past 23 months, Marco and I have spent 425 hours together on italki. When I started, my level was around B1. Now, I am approaching C1 — and the transformation has been real and measurable.
What makes me most proud is not just the time invested, but the results I can clearly feel in my daily life. Recently, I was able to watch Moneyball on Netflix comfortably, and I joined Zoom calls with international classmates effortlessly. I still remember how much I struggled to understand during my class in San Diego in 2021. The difference today is huge.
Marco has not only helped me improve my vocabulary and grammar, but also my confidence, fluency, and ability to think in English.

Marco is one of the best teachers. He knows exactly what he’s doing, even if sometimes we students feel like we know better. But that’s not the case — you just need to trust Marco and diligently do what he says.
