As a PhD linguist specializing in bilingual and multilingual learning, I help students master Brazilian Portuguese with confidence. My research at UFC Brazil focused on how adults acquire languages, and I’ve taught 700+ classes to foreigners—from beginners to advanced speakers. Whether you’re navigating accents, idioms, or grammar, my lessons blend academic insights with real-world practice. Let’s make learning vibrant and mistake-friendly!
For any level, I am SUPER patient, outgoing and excited about my students at class time. I am very committed to teaching so that my students really learn, notice their mistakes but don't feel bad about them, because mistakes are part of this language construction. I prepare a PowerPoint presentation with pronunciation tips (and accents), introduction to phonetic symbols (Portuguese phonetic tips) and the sounds of Brazilian Portuguese, isolated vocabularies and then small everyday phrases using such vocabulary, idioms, cultural curiosities and small doses of grammar when necessary. The student will be monitored during the class and I will always be attentive to corrections and improvements.
1- Students from scratch: A FREE book in PDF that is made available to the student (one chapter for each scheduled lesson / class). ELEMENTARY and INTERMEDIATE students receive a Power Point slid of the lesson e/ Book PDF with vocabularies, verbs, expressions, phonetics and gravar topics.

I could not ask for a better Portuguese teacher! After each lesson with Alyson, I feel encouraged and motivated to continue studying Portuguese. He structures his lessons very effectively. Each lesson, I gain a lot about practical vocabulary, pronunciation tips, and cultural information. Alyson is very good at explaining more difficult topics in the language. He is also a very warm person.
