Hi everyone, my name's João and I am a Portuguese native speaker living in Portugal, Lisbon. I have a background in Tourism and I am interested in History, Sociology, Economics, Politics and travelling the world. I’ve been teaching languages for the last 4 years and I can truly say I love my job. I love meeting people like yourself and learning about different cultures and ways of life.

Since I completed my TEFL certicate in 2017, I’ve taught both in the classroom and in private lessons, including nearly 5000 hours online. Teaching online requires a different set of skills as a teacher, and I believe over the past 3 years I have mastered these skills to provide a balance between learning grammar and vocabulary and spending as much time speaking and communicating as possible.Le mie lezioni e il mio metodo di insegnamento
If you are looking to learn European Portuguese with conversation, we will choose a topic that you like to talk about and we will discuss it.
If you are looking to improve your grammar, reading, writing and pronunciation skills, I have a wide range of materials I can provide. We can also have a mix, which works really well.

João has been my tutor for quite some time now. I'm very grateful to have him as my teacher. Although I still make some mistakes ( and sometimes the same mistakes 🙃🤭), he is always very patient and supportive. Definitely please pick him as your tutor!!!

With João I have classes focused on Grammar and on Conversation. He uses many different resources, such as ebooks and articles, and is always well prepared. We do grammar exercises, read articles and talk about many different topics together so that I can learn new vocabulary easily. João is always encouraging and creates a safe environment so that it's easy for me to speak Portuguese. Obrigada João!

My intro lesson with Joao was exactly what I was hoping for. Portuguese is entirely new to me, and Joao tailored the discussion perfectly to my skill level and goals. Would highly recommend!
