My name is Siphokuhle Twala and I was born in Kwa-Zulu Natal and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa.
I have been an online ESL teacher and Zulu translator for 3 years. I am a cultural enthusiast and met individuals from different countries on this platform.
I love traveling, it is my dream to travel for a living. Traveling broadens your mind as you leave your comfort zone and learn about other cultures and traditions. I love adventure too.
I am a certified FOODIE, in my world! I love trying out new dishes.

I am TEFL qualified and currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. I have been teaching in italki for 3 years. In 2022, I received a certificate of Masterful Mentor and Top 1% Zulu Teacher status.
Previously, I had participated in leadership programs at university that forced me out of my shell and helped develop my personality. I love helping people and believe in the African ideology of "ubuntu" meaning "I am because you are".
As a teacher, I also love to learn from my students because I believe we all have something to teach each other.

I offer relaxed conversational lessons that help with speaking, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. My lessons will also help boost your confidence to speak English and isiZulu when you need to. I am patient and willing to work with you till you achieve your language goals.
I am flexible with the student's preferences too.
I use: Google Docs, Youtube / Movie referrals, and flashcards but it is mostly conversational.

It was a really nice lesson with Siphokuhle. Zulu is the most spoken language of Southern Africa and it's also very different from Indo-European languages, having an extremely hard pronunciation for someone who isn't used to consonant clicks but I think we managed just fine. She is punctual, well prepared and willing to help and make sure you are getting the pronunciation right before advancing to new topics. We also reviewed some basic greetings and even practised more pronunciation with some tongue twisters during the class. It was a fun lesson and I'm looking forward to our next meeting and to keep on learning Zulu!

Helena enjoyed this wonderful meeting with her new English teacher Miss Siphokuhle Twala. Twala is very professional and very available. She also has great skills in giving lessons to young people (Helena is 12), because Helena felt very confident with this course and she will surely continue to learn with Twala. #success

Siphokuhle is patient and explains topics and grammar structures well. Classes are fun and her teaching style is great.

Siphokuhle is an extremely patient teacher. She's friendly and comes prepared with lessons to help you reach your goals as a student. I would definitely recommend her.
