Joanna is an exellent teacher. She arrives at the lesson prepared with powerpoint, which she uses for examples and providing many opportunities to practice and engage with the lesson. Joanna is very good at helping with pronounciation, focussing on what I struggle with and breaking it down to make it easier to learn.

I've taken quite a few lessons with Johanna Qin, and I always appreciate how the lesson starts off with conversational Chinese and how her teaching style is flexible, allowing me to study and learn texts I'm interested in. In addition, she clearly explains differences between similar grammar points in Chinese and, if necessary, in English. The conversational practice has markedly improved my speaking ability in Chinese. For context I study Chinese at university, and my teachers complemented my increase in conversational fluency, which I attribute to taking these lessons. Overall, I enjoy the flexibility with what I study, the clear explanation of grammar points, and the conversational (and listening) practice.

Excellent teacher. I'm an absolute beginner, and Joanna is an experienced teacher with a plan and structure to introduce the language. I appreciate her patience and encouragement.

Joanna is an amazing teacher! She is extremely patient and attentive, and our conversations are always interesting, despite my lack of fluency. She provides enough structure to push me forward, and she notices and adapts our lessons to my weaknesses.

Joanna is an engaging, fun, and effective teacher! I've gotten a lot better at speaking faster and fluently within 2-3 weeks because the first portion of each session is dedicated to speaking practice. She makes sure to bring up questions from previous lessons so that I can improve my responses and improve my vocabulary usage. I also like that she teaches words and phrases that native Chinese speakers actually use, and not the textbook phases that are not actually used in real life.

OMG Joanna has been one of the best instructors I have had. Today was our last class together and I already miss her. I totally recommend her 100%. Thank you for everything.
