Hi, guys! My name is Izumi. I'm from Kumamoto, Japan.
I love:
- Cooking...I'm a foodie and I love trying new recipes from all over the world. I'd love to learn if you have a special recipe to share with me! ;)
- Reading...I love reading both in Japanese and in English!
- Dancing...Swing dance (esp. Lindy Hop!) is my passion!
- Anime... These Covid days got me hooked into Anime! My recent favorites are Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and My Hero Academia. Yep, I'm a newb. So, come to my lesson and educate me with your favorite anime/manga!

I studied Japanese language education and linguistics both in college and grad school, and I have been a professional Japanese teacher for 10 years+. I used to teach in Oklahoma, USA and in Monterrey, Mexico.
I have taught people from diverse backgrounds such as exchange students, businesspersons, homemakers, high school students, and college students. So, I can customize my curriculum to meet your specific needs. I can also explain confusing and complicated grammar/vocabulary well!
私は大学と大学院で日本語教育と言語学を勉強して、もう10年くらい日本語を教えています。アメリカとメキシコでも教えていました。

I will encourage you to speak as much in Japanese as possible during my lessons, but we can always switch to English if you want!
My beginner/intermediate grammar&vocab lessons are based on "Dekiru Nihongo" but you don't need to have the textbook. I will also use various other textbooks and my original materials depending on the lesson options.

I highly recommend Izumi's class! Her teaching style works the best for how I learn with very engaging material from a unique textbook. I feel like I've learned and improved exponentially since I started lessons with her. She is very encouraging and conversations are always a lot of fun. I also always appreciate her honest feedback and corrections which helps me learn and understand the language even better! ありがとうございました！

I enjoy my lessons with Izumi very much! We are doing lessons together since 11 months now once a week and I can really feel how my Japanese has improved which makes me very happy. She is always well organized, professional, motivating and just a fun person to be around.

She speaks perfect english and can explain better than other teachers, she’s very patient, energetic, and has good materials for teaching. Been with this teacher for more than 2 years and i see myself staying with her throughout my Japanese language learning journey. Thanks for being patient with me and for being the best teacher

Izumiさん is a Very good teacher. She knows how to teach in a fun way and is very kind. Very good English too, so the communication is no problem. There’s no need for textbooks which makes everything easier. いずみさんis Highly Recommended👍🏽
