I’m Shire.
I’m originally from the Philippines but I’ve been living in Japan for 5 years.
I used to work at one of the top 3 banks in the Philippines before migrating to Japan.
I have an experience of teaching Japanese here in italki for 600+ hours.
My timeline:
2015 - self-studied Japanese
2017 - moved to Japan
2018 - passed N2
2020 - passed N1
My hobbies/interests:
1. Cooking
2. Playing video games
3. Singing with the guitar
4. Watching anime
5. Learning new languages/cultures
6. Food tripping
7. Talking to people all over the world ^_^

I like to help my students feel at ease and comfortable by keeping the classroom mood relaxed yet fun, but at the same time I also like to challenge them and encourage them to occasionally step out of their current level by giving tons of practice exercises. (for grammar lessons only)
My biggest motivation is my students' positive and encouraging reviews.

Shire san is a very organized teacher. I appreciate that she prepares her own lesson plans and homework material. This makes me feel like she takes the time to tailor her lessons to each of her students needs. Seeing the progress I have made so far since beginning my lessons with Shire san helps boost my confidence even more while studying. I look forward to more lessons with Shire san!

this was my third class with shire and I am beyond impressed with how much work she puts into each lesson. It's hard to find a teacher online who will actually make materials and put in time to really teach, and she does an amazing job.
