私はイディオムが好きです。今回は「目の中に入れても痛くない」や「猫の手も借りたい」のように、日本の日常会話や文章でもたまに使われる表現を10個リストにしました。 I love idioms. They're so interesting. This time, I’ve put together a list of 10 classic Japanese expressions that are used in conversations and writings. 1. 目の中に入れても痛くない(me no naka ni irete mo itakunai) Meaning: Much beloved / Apple of one's eye Example: 孫がかわいくて、目の中に入れても痛くないです。 2. 猫の手も借りたい(neko no te mo karitai) Meaning: Extremely busy / Need all the help one can get Example: 今週は仕事が多すぎて、猫の手も借りたいくらいです。 3. 耳にたこができる(mimi ni tako ga dekiru) Meaning: Heard something so often you're sick of it Example: 母から勉強しなさいと耳にたこができるほど言われました。 4. 口が滑る(kuchi ga suberu) Meaning: A slip of the tongue / Accidental disclosure Example: 秘密だったのに、ついうっかり口が滑ってしまいました。 5. 腹が立つ(hara ga tatsu) Meaning: To get angry / Feel annoyed Example: 約束を破られて、とても腹が立ちました。 6. 足を引っ張る(ashi o hipparu) Meaning: To drag someone down / Hold someone back Example: チームの足を引っ張らないように頑張ります。 7. 一石二鳥(isseki nichou) Meaning: Kill two birds with one stone Example: 散歩しながら英語を聴くのは一石二鳥です。 8. 胡麻をすり(goma o suru) Meaning: To flatter / Kiss up to someone Example: 上司に胡麻をすって気に入られようとするのは苦手です。 9. 首を長くする(kubi o nagaku suru) Meaning: Eagerly waiting for something Example: 週末の旅行を、首を長くして待っています。 10. 目から鱗が落ちる(me kara uroko ga ochiru) Meaning: The scales fall from one's eyes / Eye-opening Example: 先生の解説を聞いて、目から鱗が落ちました。 ------------------------------- これらは少し古い表現だけど、まだたまに使われているものです。 皆さんの国の好きなイディオムがあれば、教えてください。 次回はもっと現代的なもの、ドラマやアニメに出てくるようなイディオムをリストします。 These are a bit old-fashioned, but they are still used sometimes. Next time, I’ll list more modern idioms—the kind you often hear in Japanese dramas and anime. If you have a favorite idiom in your language, please let me know.
