recently in Japan, I often hear about cyberattacks, on the news. To be honestly I am afraid of AI development. because I guess AI is going to be smarter than human being. and they would take our Jobs. Development of AI is so quick now in my opinion, AI would rule the world and people follow what AI said. but we also get benefit from them. for example translation and searching or something else and most important thing is thinking. I think it is gonna be like calculator. people rely on it to calculate now so I guess people would start to rely on AI to think

Spotted this warning sign in the park: “Beware Water monitor”
In English, beware means “be careful” or “watch out.” A water monitor is a large, strong lizard that loves swimming and can grow longer than a person!
Have you ever seen a warning sign in English that taught you a new word?

Question for English language learners. English tutor Alice here.
If you could speak to someone from the United States what would you want to talk about? What's something that you'd love to learn about the US? What topics do you love to talk about with your friends?
Do you know what small talk is? Is small talk with strangers common where you live?
Here in the US it is very common. We do small talk with strangers. We talk about the weather, hobbies, sports, food and more! We talk to strangers in grocery stores, book stores, libraries and more places.
My hobbies are knitting, writing, diamond art and photography.

Today, I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries. When I walked around the store, I noticed a sign saying, “2027 is just around the corner!” I was surprised because I felt like this year had only just started. To make things even more surprising, the supermarket had already started taking reservations for osechi, the traditional Japanese New Year’s food. I couldn’t believe it. I thought, “There are still two months left in this year!” It feels strange to think that we are already preparing for the New Year when there is still plenty of time before the end of the year. Time really flies. Seeing the osechi advertisements made me realize that 2026 is coming to an end much faster than I expected.

Today I went to the university’s English Lounge for the first time. I spoke English and played games—it was a lot of fun. I went to school for my first class today, so I’m really sleepy right now. But I have a part-time job starting at 5:30 p.m. To be honest, I really don’t want to go. I just want to go home right now and get some sleep. I can’t believe I have my first class again tomorrow. Since my second class is the only one I have tomorrow, I think I’ll head home early and get some sleep.
