전문 강사The verb pedir (to ask for / to order) is irregular in the preterite because the vowel E changes to I in some forms.
🔹 Conjugation (pretérito indefinido)
yo → pedí
tú → pediste
he / she / you (formal) → pidió
we → pedimos
you all → pedisteis
they / you all (formal) → pidieron
👉 The E → I change happens only in:
3rd person singular (pidió)
3rd person plural (pidieron)
🔹 Real examples
Yesterday I asked for help. → Ayer pedí ayuda.
What did you order? → ¿Qué pediste?
She ordered a coffee. → Pidió un café.
We asked for the bill. → Pedimos la cuenta.
They asked for explanations. → Pidieron explicaciones.
🎯 Key takeaway
