I enjoy language and linguistics and have been self-studying putonghua in a lazy way for many years, and more seriously recently. Happy to exchange English and Mandarin knowledge. I've travelled extensively in China, and plan to do so again soon. I love travelling and living in China. So far Yangshuo, Guilin, Lijiang are my favourite places to live - or maybe Kunming, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Kunshan. Jiuzhaigou is certainly the most beautiful place I have been to.

    would + will is incorrect English I’m not in the room is literal translation from another language. I guess it means just - I am not on hand, how could I know?

    Hi everyone Whilst I am not now/no longer married, I have some things that I would like to say and some advice to offer to married people - be patient with their partner. Most families issues happen because one or other of the couple does not deal with a situation well, so we should be patient and kind to each other so we can achieve a good life .

    I prefer travel by bus - better is either 'to travel', or 'bus travel' with travel as a noun. We use 'go by bus' but not commonly with bicycle, simply 'ride a bike', or 'use a bicycle' ...but then I don't ride by bicycle a long time ago... ... but since then I haven't ridden a bike for a very long time.

    No wonder you are confused Grace, it is more or less as clear as mud! (I think we know each other do we not?). He sure likes to use negatives, doesn't he! Try negating the negatives! Make them positives: The task is of another nature to THAT OF those who will only promise what they can do and intend to do, and whose principles do not let them delude or violate liberty. No guarantee my understanding is quite correct!

    Sometimes I worry about reporting my work progress... But I have difficulty avoiding answering such questions. Procrastination - make a joke about 'a round tuit'! (look up a round tuit!) reject people --> refuse everytime --> every time consistently or constantly? neither is correct - should be 'almost always'

That sentence is much more direct and connected

    aber dieser Artikel ist nur auf Englisch geschrieben - überhaupt kein Deutsch! Why is a calendar so significant for you I wonder? In English we have an expression 'horses for courses' meaning different people are suited to different things. Turn it around as 'courses for horses' meaning different methods suit different people. For Chinese I use half a dozen resources mostly for reading (online or on smartphone) and just weixin (before I used QQ) for speaking. I like the dual language short stories and books in particular, but a calendar has never figured in my needs.
