China recently held a fascinating humanoid robot dance competition in Beijing. Robots from different places came together to perform street dance, ballroom dance, cheerleading, and more. Some robots could turn, jump, keep their balance, and even dance together with other robots.
Behind these performances are many engineers and professional dancers. Dancers teach the robots different movements, while engineers use technology to help the robots learn and repeat those movements. It may look funny and exciting, but it also shows how quickly technology is changing the way we think about creativity and performance.
Watching a robot dance might make us smile, but it also makes us wonder: When a robot performs a beautiful dance, are we watching technology, art, or a little bit of both?
