In today's meeting, a friend talked about the cherry blossoms in her neighborhood, which reminded me of a grove of cherry trees at a school I went to many years ago. The blossoms were so beautiful that the school became a tourist attraction because of them. Then, it suddenly occurred to me -- for the first time -- that I had never seen those trees produce any cherries. Isn’t that curious? Cherries have been very popular in the Spring Festival season in recent years. They are mostly imported from South America, so the price is relatively high. Why don’t many cherry trees here in my country grow fruit? Are they just flowering, ornamental trees and not fruiting ones?
