In Spanish, we use specific connectors to link causes and consequences in a sentence. To express CAUSE, we use "como" and "porque": Como goes at the beginning of the sentence (like "since/as" in English) Porque goes in the middle of the sentence (like "because") Como no tenía dinero, me quedé en casa. → Since I had no money, I stayed home. Me quedé en casa porque no tenía dinero. → I stayed home because I had no money. To express CONSEQUENCE, we use "así que" and "de modo que" (both mean "so/therefore"): Estábamos agotados, así que decidimos no salir. → We were exhausted, so we decided not to go out. No reservé con tiempo, de modo que me quedé sin plaza. → I didn't book in time, so I was left without a spot.
