I read some articles on Puzzle English today. This article was about "renting a friend."
I've never heard about this before. The article tells us about a pet shop in Japan. This is a very popular place. About 60 people visit it and "rent a friend" every week. There are about 600 different animals. They have dogs, cats, rabbits, parrots, hamsters, rats, mice, turtles, and even snakes!
The manager of this shop says that the dogs are the most popular, however, children really like the kittens too. The cats have long bushy tails, and children like watching and playing with them.
To be honest, I don't have good thoughts about this shop. "Rent a friend" - really?!
It's not a good idea. Animals are alive, and they have feeling and emotions. We can't take them and throw them away after we've had a good time, even if you call it "renting a friend."
We must be more responsible for them. They're really good friends for us. I read a good phrase about the relationship between us (animals and people) in my own language, and I will try to describe the meaning:
For us, pets are only one page in our life, but we're an entire life for them.
P.S. This is my first dog. I loved her so much!🙏
