HulpleerkrachtHaving been an ESL tutor now for 7 years one of the most common thing I have learned about international ESL students is that so many of them feel 'limited'. And so many of them show me that they are indeed 'limited' in their English speaking.
Two examples:
1. When I ask a question and the student gives a short worded sentence answer and then they look unsure of what to say next. Or they say, "That's all."
2. When a student gives the same exact answer each week to a basic question. If you respond to "How are you?" with "Fine and you?" every single time you talk to someone that's going to show how limited you are in your English vocabulary/knowledge in terms of basic casual communication skills. Are you truly always "Fine." or is that the only phrase you know within seconds that you feel confident to say? Having a list of different responses ready within seconds really shows improved fluency. English is all about variety. Because with humans, how you feel changes from day to day.
