    Settling in Ithaca

I moved to Ithaca, NY about one and a half months ago. Ithaca is a really small town with a population of about 30,000, one third of which are Cornell University students.
One of the things that is difficult when moving to a new place is that you have to start your life from scratch.
Sometimes this can be a good point because you can leave all the past behind and start off as a new person. But in return, you lose almost everything you've acquired in the past: friends, job, acquaintances and knowledge of the place, etc.
I came here leaving all my friends, family, job behind in Korea and I'll be living here as a foreigner whose language will never be as perfect as a native, which will put me in many awkward situations.
As I was thinking of the negative side of moving to a new place, I may have gotten a little pessimistic. However, I do believe that I am lucky to have this opportunity of living in a new country and learning the language as well as the culture. I am seeing many new things that I'd never come across before.
I think I just have to be more patient with myself and not expect that I will settle in and have what I used to have back in my country so soon.
But if you know any tips about how to be patient with yourself in your daily life, please leave a comment below for me.
Thanks for reading this long gibberish.

    Practicing new vocabulary

The rumor got around the whole city.

She performed her duties whereas he neglected his.

I can't speak with you now, I'm on duty. I'll call you tonight when I'm off-duty. (Or I'm going to call you...)

I finished the hardest of my English assignments.

They assigned us the task to put away all the files for the year.

I feel discouraged sometimes, but I continue practicing English daily.

I'm often ahead of time, and I think it is not respectful to be always late.

It's true that I'm not very tidy, but I'm often doing housework.

    Thanks for your corrections :)

The Stranger. Part 2.To the far away lands... Please, correct my mistakes.

This time I write as the Damien person. I am trying to write difficult text (for my English level). I hope this is not bad...

The time was passing. My stay at the Druid's Island in the parallel world was both hard and joyful. I went onto the train. At the beginning I just ran to the valley and raised stones there. Sometimes I took swimming after the training. I dreamed of joining the warriors, but Lisa didn't allow me to do it until I became harder. Even Lisa was tougher and endured more than I.  So I will be faced with a long way before I can join the real warriors. The interesting difference between these people and us was their power. Many of them were as tough as professional sportsmen in our world.
One day when Lisa joined me to run to the Lake she told me,
"The Elders are preparing an expedition to unknown continents. Our ships will sail through the ocean. You can join the expedition if you complete your harvesting work on time."
Surely my answer depended on whether Lisa would join the expedition or not. I fell in love a long time ago...
