There are many different varieties of American English. I was born and raised in New York, which has given me General American English pronunciation. The English that I speak has 15 vowel sounds.

Today, we will talk about the vowel sound number 1 of 15: /æ/ black cat. The mouth must be open and wide for this sound, maybe a little more than you are used to in your native language.

おはようございます。日本語だんだんポットキャストのゆかりです。

10月31日はハロウィンですね。

日本語では、カタカナで
ハロウィンや、ハロウィーンといいます。

日本では、わかい人や子どもはハロウィンを楽しむことが多いです。

たとえば、USJ、ユニバーサルスタジオジャパンでは、
ハロウィンのイベントがあります。

1年で、いちばん人気のあるイベントだと思います。

東京(とうきょう)ディズニーランドもおなじですね。

ディズニーランドでも、1年でいちばん人が多いと思います。

私も昔(むかし)はハロウィンのイベントに行っていました。

でもいまは、とにかく人が多いので、
行かなくなりました。

日本の渋谷(しぶや)では、仮装(かそう)した人があつまります。

"仮装する"とは、ほかの何かに、かわることです。

お寿司(すし)になったり、
ワンピースのルフィになったり・・

"仮装する"といいます。

「今年のハロウィンは何に仮装するの？」

「じつは、キャプテンアメリカの仮装がしたいんだよね。」

といいます。

ほかにも、

「わぁ、かわいい、ねこの仮装！」

「え、ねこじゃなくて、ピカチュウに仮装したつもりなんやけど・・」

といいます。

今日はカタカナがたくさんありましたね。
