Part 2) High school teachers spend most of the class time lecturing while the students listen and take notes. Other high school teachers spend most of the class time on discussion and projects that students are highly involved in and exchange their ideas. Which of these two approaches do you think is more effective for students' learning and why? Secondly, interacting with teachers and classmates in class improves their communicative skills and team spirit. In group discussions or project work, students learn how to listen to, collaborate with, and sometimes persuade other members, as well as demonstrate their own thoughts and work in front of the whole class. In this way, they develop many valuable abilities, such as leadership, public speaking, cooperation, and presentation capabilities, through which they can gain more competition edges in the future. For example, for group projects, students would have to figure out the chief goal, assign team members different tasks, and then put their work together in the end. This requires more qualifications than just writing down notes. To conclude, I strongly agree with the second approach to teaching and learning. This is because critical thinking is more significant than absorbing knowledge, and because personal interaction grows students' comprehensive competencies.
